(Einstein’s) Theory of Personal Resilience: Why You Are a Giant Ball of Energy

E = mc²

You are probably wondering why a piece on personal growth is kicking off with a physics equation. Don’t panic; I have absolutely no intention of dragging you through complex maths, nor am I planning to test you on it later. It is simply a reflection that struck me while listening to an audiobook on a recent drive.

We all know the equation, of course, but as a quick recap: E is energy, m represents mass (or weight, for the sake of simplicity), and c is the speed of light—which rattles along at a brisk 186,000 miles per second. Because that speed of light figure is squared, the math tells us something extraordinary: even a tiny amount of mass contains a staggering, mind-boggling amount of latent energy.

Which brings me to us. However you look at it, we as humans are quite literally giant, walking balls of energy.

Hold onto that thought for a moment. You aren't just managing energy; you are energy.

Naturally, there are days when we don't exactly feel like a brilliant cosmic force. We wake up feeling low, drained, and more like a discarded AA battery than a powerhouse. It’s in those precise moments that I find it helps to look past the immediate fatigue and remember what we are actually made of. We have an incredibly massive, infinite resource sitting right inside us, waiting to be tapped so we can get back on our feet, recharged and ready for whatever challenge life decides to throw our way.

Over time, I have developed a simple, five-minute ritual that allows me to step away from the noise and plug back into this internal grid. When the world gets a bit too loud or demanding, I follow a few straightforward steps:

  • Take five minutes: Physically pause and step away from the desks, the screens, and the demands.

  • Close your eyes: Shut out the external distractions that are competing for your attention.

  • Take three deep breaths: Inhale slowly to signal to your nervous system that it is time to recalibrate, shifting the focus entirely back to yourself.

  • Speak truth to the battery: I say to myself, “I am pure energy, and nothing outside of me can take away or drain this energy.”

This deliberate pause acts as a circuit breaker. It instantly helps me reconnect to myself, shifting my focus away from whatever chaotic storm is happening around me and redirecting it to the immense reservoir within.

Whatever the situation, and no matter who I am with or what pressure is mounting, I know that giant source of energy is always there. We don't need to search the world for strength; we just need to take five minutes to remember that we’re already carrying it around with us.
